BGSU Club Softball walked away from a tough weekend series against the University of Michigan with a hard-earned win and a renewed sense of confidence, snapping a six-game losing streak to the University of Michigan in the process.
Michigan pulled away in Game 1 with an explosive eight-run sixth inning, capitalizing on timely hits and defensive miscues to take the opener. BGSU had solid plate discipline, drawing eight walks, but couldn't string together enough hits to keep up.
Rachel Ebert drove in the Falcons' lone run.
The highlight of the weekend came in Game 2, when
Casey Marousch delivered a masterclass in the circle, striking out 11 while allowing just four hits in a complete-game performance. The offense backed her up with key RBIs from
Sammy Gingras and
Taryn Tyler, while BGSU took control with a three-run fourth inning.
The victory marked BGSU's first win over Michigan since 2023, ending a six-game drought and showing just how far this team has come.
The series finale saw Michigan once again use a single explosive inning, this time an eight-run fourth, to put the game out of reach. Despite a strong two-hit performance from
Kylie Gibson and RBIs from Gibson and
Angelina Pietri, the Falcons couldn't recover after early errors and big swings from Michigan's lineup.
BGSU will look to regroup and build on the Game 2 momentum as they host Ohio State next Sunday. With that statement win under their belt, the Falcons are eager to keep pushing forward as fall ball winds down.
