On March 23, the club softball team had its first games of the spring semester. The team traveled to Adrian, MI, where they played in a triple header series. The Falcons were excited to get back on the dirt, as it was the first time they had played outside since October.
The first game started with sophomore Rachel Ebert in the circle. Ebert pitched the entire six innings of the first game, where she allowed nine earned runs, five walks, and struck out five. The offense started slow for the Falcons but quickly picked up as the game went on. Freshman Katlyn Streator and sophomores Emma Hand and Charlotte Stephan collected one hit for the team while sophomore Kara Haake and junior Taylor Mitchell each collected two. Freshman Kendal Sufka and Mitchell both added home runs to the team's eight total hits. Unfortunately, the Falcons fell short and lost 7-9.
The second game had hits from Ebert, Haake, freshman Tayler Conner, and a home-run shot by sophomore Libby Dix to bring in a run. Sophomore Casey Marousch was in the circle for the Falcons, where she walked six, had three earned runs, and struck out two. Unfortunately, the Falcon defense could not keep the Bulldogs from scoring, and the game ended with a score of 1-16.
The Falcons were determined to come back and play a strong third game. Dix was in the circle for the team where she walked two, allowed three earned runs, and struck out two. The girls came ready to hit in the third game. They had a total of ten hits and four stolen bases. Unfortunately, the Falcons could not string together enough hits to secure the win, and the game ended with a final score of 5-7.
