After clinching a postseason appearance, the Men's Lacrosse Team's vibes have been at an all-time high. The newly ranked Falcons have a lot to feel good about, but the jobs not finished yet. Hosting one more homestand to finish up the regular season, the men in orange have their work cut out for them as they face yet another ranked NCLL Division I program in the University of Cincinnati.
The game began controlled, each team trying to get a feel for the other, trading just a couple of goals in the first quarter, finishing with two scores a piece. The second and third quarters followed a similar fashion, as goals were scarce and possessions were long, but the Bearcats slowly accumulated a lead of 7-4 going into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, however, the tempo picked up quickly, as the Falcons net 3 quick goals in chaotic transition opportunities to even up the score 7-7 with nine and a half minutes left in the game.
They say speed kills, and unfortunately the same was true this weekend, as the patient Cincinnati team wore down the balanced Bowling Green attack, netting a few late goals to pull ahead and outlast the Falcons, finishing with a final score of 7-10 in favor of the Bearcats.
Scoring contributions were made by: Caden Fatzinger (4 Goals, 1 Assist),
Ryan Gill (1 Goal, 1 Assist),
Jackson Keen (1 Goal, 1 Assist),
Rylan Williams (1 Goal, 1 Assist), Nate Silsby (1 Assist)
Due to a last-minute Slippery Rock University forfeit, the Falcons finish the weekend with a split record of 1-1, finishing the NCLL regular season 4-4.
Next Up: The Falcons rest and prepare for finals, graduations, and the NCLL Midwest Conference Playoff Tournament as the #4 Seed on April 28th.
