On October 13th, Bowling Green Men's Lacrosse traveled north to face a gauntlet of Michigan teams for their first action of the fall scrimmage season.
First the Falcons took on the hosting program, Siena Heights, kicking off the day with an intense NCLL vs NAIA matchup. Bowling Green was relentless in their balanced attack as the Saints buckled down to their ground, trading blows for much of the first three quarters.
Coming out of the third quarter break, the boys in orange built momentum at the perfect time. Capitalizing on a few Siena Heights mistakes, they quickly built up a lofty 3 goal lead, and began the fourth quarter ahead 9-6.
While the Saints battled hard for a comeback, the Falcons outlasted a menacing Saints offense, splitting the fourth for a final score of 10-7.
Sophomore Defender
Dylan Gilbert had this to say about their victory, "It felt good to get back on the field with the boys and play against some competition. It was also cool to go out and play my former school and felt great to come out with the win. This just gets the ball rolling for a good season ahead!"
Following a competitive matchup, Bowling Green went on to play two more scrimmages against Michigan State and Saginaw Valley State.
The Falcons came up short against the MCLA powerhouse Spartans (0-12), but quickly bounced back with a commanding win against the Cardinals (10-0) to close out their opening weekend.
Next Up: The Falcons look forward to their first in-state scrimmage, facing off against Cincinnati on October 27th, in Cincinnati, OH.
