The Club Golf team competed in their first regional tournament of the season on October 5-6 at Reid Memorial Park Golf Course, hosted by the University of Dayton. For many players, it marked their NCCGA debut, with seven golfers competing for the first time.
Club president
Maxwell Weaver emphasized the challenges of dealing with nerves, especially in golf. Weaver says, "I remember my first tournament with BGSU and how nervous I was. In golf, the nerves are unlike any other sport because you have so much time to get in your head between shots, and it can affect your game. I believe that showed in Dayton and impacted the team's scores."
The tournament's structure, with the South Course on day one and the tougher North Course on day two, added difficulty and disrupted the Falcons' rhythm. Despite their efforts, the team did not make the top five, providing a humbling but valuable lesson on the standard of competition in the Ohio Valley Region. Weaver expressed optimism moving forward, as the team looks to improve between practice and upcoming tournaments.
