Club Golf Hosts First Home Tournament

Falcons Place Second

Club Golf hosted its first tournament in club history at Stone Ridge Golf Club and secured a strong second-place finish.

After a tough performance in Dayton, the team was ready to bounce back. "We were looking to have a huge bounce-back weekend, and I feel like we did just that. Still looking for our first win in school history, we were hopeful that this would be the weekend to do it," says Club President Maxwell Weaver.

Saturday's cold and rainy weather added to the challenge, with frequent pauses for rain disrupting play. "Stopping every ten minutes for rain can not only lock up your body but can make it extremely hard to focus on the moment," Weaver said. Despite the conditions, Bowling Green finished day one just one stroke behind Miami, with a team total of 376 strokes.

On Sunday, the Falcons improved by shooting 369 strokes—seven strokes better than the previous day. However, the Bearcats finished just four strokes ahead. "Sometimes you have to tip your cap to the other team. Cincinnati played an unbelievable round. It was encouraging to see the frustration and desire to win. This team wants to win, and I believe that we have an extremely bright future," says Weaver. Freshmen JJ Meyer (T6), Isaac Gallmeier (T10), and Trevor Campbell (T15) all finished in the top fifteen, adding to the team's optimism as they look ahead to their next competition.

The Falcons are hitting the road this weekend, heading to Beckett Ridge Golf Club in Cincinnati, Ohio. They're scheduled to tee off at 12:10 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, with additional rounds set for Sunday.
