In the first tournament of the spring semester, the Bowling Green Falcons are set to take flight against some of the fiercest teams within the National Collegiate Dodgeball Association: Kent State University, Penn State University, and Ohio University. Each of these teams carry a decent amount of history within the Falcons Club Dodgeball Team.
Starting with Kent State University, they are 8th in the league standings and 4th in terms of Ohio Region teams, they began the first semester blazing hot, however began to cool down towards the end of the semester, with a 3-0 loss to the Falcons at the Tyler Webb Memorial Tournament. The Golden Flashes and the Falcons have a history, with the Falcons prevailing for about 4 years over Kent State in the NCDA. This weekend, we will see if the streak can continue.
Next are the Penn State Nittany Lions, who have a slight but intense history with the Falcons. Starting off the semester, Penn State is ranked 14th in the NCDA, however, they peaked at #6 in the league for multiple weeks. They managed to beat the #1 Team in the NCDA last semester, which were the Ohio State Buckeyes, with a 4-3 win in overtime. With this being said, they are not an easy team to beat. History between Penn State and Bowling Green goes back to the 2021-2022 season Nationals, where the Falcons and the Nittany Lions faced each other in a hard-fought battle. The Falcons were down 3-1 coming into the second half, yet managed to fight their way back with 3 straight wins and a final clutch win in a 2v1 situation in overtime, bringing the final score to 4-3 with the Falcons prevailing, which, to this day, has been one of the best comebacks in College Dodgeball history. This weekend, this match will be a very exciting and critical match for the Falcons.
Finally, we have the Ohio University Bobcats, who are currently placed #9 in the NCDA Standings. This will be the toughest match for the Falcons at this tournament, as they have had little success in beating the Bobcats for 3 years. However, at this tournament, there is the hope that things will change, as the Falcons will give it all they have to come out on top.
Overall, this will be an action-packed weekend for the Falcons, and hopefully the rest during the offseason has treated them well so they can start this new semester off strong!
