Tyler Webb Memorial Tournament
BGSU Club Dodgeball hosted their 2nd annual Tyler Webb Memorial Tournament at the Perry Field House, on November 2nd, in honor of Tyler Webb, a member of the Club Dodgeball team who passed away on October 31, 2023.Â
Club Dodgeball competed well this past weekend, winning all of the games, taking down Northern Kentucky University 6-0, Saginaw Valley State University 3-2, Ohio State University 3-1, and the University of Cincinnati 5-0.Â
When asked about their performance, Club Dodgeball President
Ronnie Thompson provided this insight, "The team played very well, beating four teams we had not gone against this season. We all fell into our strategy and even when the numbers were against us, we found a way to preserver and win the point. Seniors Logan Gerardot and
Josh Boyers especially stood out with both having multiple clutch catches leading to winning points. In addition to those two, Grad Student
Kalin Strawther and Senior Ronald Thompson and
Riley Brady were all in the top 5 for both catches and hits on the day. Most catches were
Riley Brady and
Josh Boyers with 9 a piece and most hits was Ronald Thompson with 25 on the day."
"We named this tournament the Tyler Webb Memorial Tournament because of one of our teammates who tragically passed away last year in a work-related accident. He was an amazing person on and off the court, who is widely remembered for always having a smile on his face and being one of the kindest people any of us has ever known. Tyler's whole family showed out for this event, so our goal was to show them how proud he would be of the club and show that his values of friendship and kindness still live with the team to this day." shared
Ronnie Thompson.Â
With a truly heartwarming memorial in his memory, BGSU Club Dodgeball shares the story of Tyler Webb on their shoulders with their continuance of the Tyler Webb Memorial Tournament.Â
Club Dodgeball competes next weekend, on November 16th at the South Oak Showdown at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.Â
