On Saturday, September 27, the Bowling Green Club Baseball team hosted the first doubleheader of the season at Bowling Green High School. Although taking leads early in both games, they ultimately fell short in both games 8-4 and 12-7.

In Game 1, Jacob Rumberger led the offense with 2 hits, 1 walk, and 3 runs scored. Jacob Pierson tallied 2 RBI in the cleanup spot for BG. Freshman Dom Swiernik was excellent in relief tossing 3 scoreless innings with 3 Ks and only allowing 1 hit. Game 2 standouts included Noah Grendzynki going 5 strong innings with 7 Ks. Freshmen Joe Levis and Robby Sykora combined for 7 total bases, 4 runs, and 4 stolen bases.

On Sunday, BG bounced back to avoid the sweep winning 4-3 in a hard-fought game. Rumberger gave up 2 runs across 5+ innings while striking out 3. Rumberger added 1 hit, 2 walks, and 2 runs scored to his weekend totals. Levis came in and got his first save of the season. A perfectly executed pick play between catcher Jonah Taylor and shortstop Evan Meyer helped seal the win in the 7th inning.
The Falcons (1-2) head north on Saturday, October 11 for a non-conference double header vs Adrian College.
