After three triple-header series this spring, the club softball's season has officially come to a close. The Falcon's played in five series over the course of the school year including conference teams, University of Michigan, Michigan State Universiy, Central Michigan University, Adrian College, and Grand Valley State University. Unfortunately, due to the strong nature of their conference, the team fell short and was only able to grasp one series win against Central Michigan University. Although the Falcons did not play as well as they had hoped, the team dynamic kept them having fun.
"I think that one of our greatest strengths this year was our team camaraderie," sophomore Rachel Ebert said. "I think that everyone genuinely loved begin together whether it was for practice or a game and everyone's consistent attendance really reflected how much everyone wanted to be there and have fun no matter the outcome of the game."
This years final conference standings has already given the team fuel for next season. After being elected as president for next years team, Ebert hopes to bring more structure to practices and place a strong focus on the mechanics and realistic game scenarios to help the team reach the competitive level that they are looking for. Similarly, she is hoping to reduce the number of miscommunications on the field by implementing more team bonding events so that the girls can continue to have a strong team chemistry and friendship both on and off the field.Â
"Honestly, I am just excited for the overall season next year," Ebert stated. "We have so many exciting plans and goals and I just cannot wait to get back on campus and get to work. The determination and eagerness of all our returning players makes me really proud and excited for next season."
