Just two weeks after their trip to Panama City Beach, the club baseball team took on non-conference opponents, the Akron Zips. The team was excited to host their first home series of the spring and came ready to play.

Sophomore Carter King started on the mound for the Falcons. He threw a total of four innings only allowing six hits, one earned run, walking zero, and striking out five. Senior Adam Laroche stepped in to finish the last two innings of the game, allowing zero hits, zero earned runs, zero walks, and striking out two. Although the Falcons had a strong defense, they could not seem to rally their offense and were only able to score one run. Freshman Austin Sertell had the only hit for the Falcons with a line drive triple to center field. Along with his hit, Sertell had good eyes at the plate and was able to draw two walks during his other plate appearances. Unfortunately, the Falcons lost the game 1-2.

After the break, the boys were ready to come back to try and earn a Falcon win. Junior Owen Unterbrink got the start on the mound. He pitched the first two innings, allowing six hits, four earned runs, one walk, and was able to strike out three. Junior Caden Fickes took the mound in relief during the third and finished the remaining four innings of the game. He allowed three hits, one earned run, one walk, and struck out two. The Falcons collected three hits during this game. Singles from freshman Jonah Taylor, sophomore Jacob Pierson, and junior Jason Burnworth helped the Falcons get on the board. Alas, these hits were not enough, and the game ended with a final score of 2-7.
