In a thrilling doubleheader against Toledo, the BGSU club baseball team completed a three-game sweep, building on their previous win to improve to 3-0 in the series and conference. Game 1 saw junior
Noah Grendzynski dominate on the mound, pitching 5.2 innings with an impressive 11 strikeouts. After exchanging runs in the first inning, the Falcons took control, adding two more runs in the fifth to solidify their lead.
Carter King provided solid relief pitching to hold off Toledo, while
Jacob Rumberger and
Dylon Woolwine supplied the offensive firepower. Rumberger's stellar performance included an inside-the-park home run, a single, and a double.
In Game 2, senior
Garrett Ebert kept Toledo scoreless through 4.2 innings, with
Adam LaRoche and
Ryan Rehner combining for three additional shutout innings, leaving the score tied at 0-0 heading into the eighth. Toledo managed to score a run in the top of the eighth, but Austen Sertell answered in dramatic fashion, smashing a walk-off, two-run double to clinch a 2-1 victory. With the sweep secured, the Falcons now look forward to their next series against Ball State on November 9th and 10th.
