Following a disappointing season opener, Bowling Green Women's Lacrosse looked to even up their record with their first away game of the WCLO season. The Falcons travelled to Upland, Indiana, where the brand-new Taylor University awaited their rematch against a Bowling Green squad that was simply too much for them to handle in the fall ball season.
The travel roster was light, but that didn't stop the women in orange from edging out a 4-3 lead against the opposing Trojan squad at the half.
Following a quick regroup at halftime, the Falcons kept their foot on the gas as they doubled their lead going into the end of the third quarter and coasted from there to take home their first win of the season.
The final score favored BGSU 7-5, thanks to a talented defense allowing only 10 shots on goal while the offense took care of the ball on the other side of the field.
Freshman defender Ellie Duessing had this to say about the Falcons first win of the season, "We worked really well together the entire game and never slowed down or gave up. Middies did an amazing job winning the draw and getting possession of the ball which was a huge part of the game. Defense clicked well and did a great job communicating and making changes when needed. Overall, a great team performance that we need to maintain as the season progresses"
Scoring contributions were made by: Lily Jones (4 Goals), Peyton Wozniak (2 Goals), Gabby Villagomez (1 Goal), Nadia Benninghofen (1 Assist), Lexy Knauff (1 Assist)
Next Up: BGSU Women's Lacrosse looks to capitalize on their momentum with another strong homestand against the Western Michigan Broncos on March 24th.
