The Falcons kicked off fall ball this past weekend against a daunting Kent State roster. Even though on a rainy Sunday afternoon, the Falcons were excited for their first official scrimmage of the year.Ā
With a brand-new draw control unit led by sophomore transfer Amelia Harrigan and a supporting cast of freshman midfielders, women in orange were ready to fight for every possession against the imposing Flashes.Ā
The scrimmage stayed neck and neck throughout, and both teams were determined to come out on top.Ā Ā
Bowling Green ended regulation tied with Kent State 7-7, and after four quarters of hard-fought lacrosse it all came down to a sudden victory overtime. While they battled until the end, the Golden Flashes net the final goal of the day, as the BGSU Women finished the scrimmage as an overtime loss to the talented WCLO opponent.Ā
Though the final score didn't fall their way, the Falcons left Kent proud, holding their own against a formidable opponent and competing in their first showing as a team.Ā Ā
Sophomore Amelia Harrigan had this to say about their opening bout, "I thought it was a great start to the fall season. The team worked well together in transitions, the offense was moving the ball around, and the defense was holding their ground. Overall, it was good to experience, and we will keep working hard as the season progresses."Ā
Scoring contributions were made by freshmen Hannah Karrick (1G) and Madelyn Owens (1G), sophomores Peyton Wozniak (1G, 1A), Lydia Planicka (1G), Gabby Villagomez (1G) and Amelia Harrigan (1G), and junior Ellie Fleisher (1G).Ā Ā
