With their season underway, Women's Ice Hockey traveled to Michigan State for a two-game series, undergoing a tough battle to start the weekend. Preparing for the coming slate of opponents, Michigan State surely gave Bowling Green the fight they were looking for.
With a strong showing for their first game on Saturday, Bowling Green tied Michigan State, 3-3. Player highlights include Goalie
Logan Card stopping 56/59 shots on goal. As for the second game on Sunday, Bowling Green fell to Michigan State, 5-3, in a hard fought loss. Other player highlights for the weekend include
Phoebe Delia with 4 assists,
Emmalynn Wanyek with 3 goals, and
Morgan Schick with 1 goal and 2 assists. "Overall, our team feels that we held our own against Michigan State. We knew going into this series that these would be benchmark games for us. We've taken away things from these games that we will use to have a successful rest of the season," says
Emmalynn Wanyek.
Strong showings all around led to the Women's Ice Hockey Team feeling optimistic for the upcoming stretch. When asked about how their teams feels they are preparing for the rest of the season, Junior Defender
Emmalynn Wanyek provided some hope to the Falcon Faithful. "With the group we have this season, we are very excited and confident going into the rest of the season."
The Bowling Green Women's Ice Hockey team gears up for a two game home series vs. Miami University (OH), with games scheduled for this Friday, Oct.18 at 6:00pm, and Saturday, Oct. 19 at 5:30pm.
