The Quidditch Team has been a staple to the organizations on Bowling Green's campus dating back to 2010. Quidditch is a mixed gender contact sport with a unique mix of elements taken from rugby, dodgeball, wrestling, and other sports. The typical season includes traveling to other universities to compete in tournaments to try and increase in team rankings. The biggest events of the year are the Great Lakes Regional Championship and the United States Quidditch Cup.  

In March of 2020, the BGSU Quidditch Team's season was cut short. Due to stay-at-home orders and travel restrictions, they were unable to attend the 2020 national tournament. At this point, the team had ranked 3rd in the Great Lakes Region, and 33rd in the nation.  

The following school year was rough. Restrictions made it near impossible to practice normally and travel. A lot of players had graduated or had other commitments, so numbers began to dwindle. Given the uncertain times, recruiting had become difficult as well. When it came time to transition the team, there were three players remaining. This was drastically different compared to the typical team of 25+ people. There was a very real possibility that BGSU Quidditch wouldn't live past the pandemic.  

Fast forward to Fall of 2021… The remaining exec board, Rae Barnes, Robert Beaton, Nick Schuler, and Rachael Purk, put together a recruitment strategy and managed to bring on a full roster of new players all within the first couple weeks of the school year. Teaching a brand new squad a brand new sport in a short amount of time can be difficult, but these amazing rookies picked it up faster than any BGSU team had ever seen. Since then, this team has competed in 3 tournaments and over 10 games. Currently, the team is preparing for their home tournament on April 10th and looking forward to their return to nationals!
