Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green (2-2 Overall, 1-1 MAC) suffered their second three defeats of the season to Louisville and Hillsdale last weekend. Bowling Green was able to get some offense moving, but it was not enough and fell short 32-22 for their first MAC regular season loss since November 5th, 2022.
"Having Louisville early in the season before these other MAC opponents is always a bit interesting because you don't get to see how the roster plays in situations where the opponent might not be as good," said Center Owen Slimmer. "You know we need to put the points on this weekend so we can get our bonus points and advantages for the MAC Tournament."
The Falcons once again took all three matches on the chin last Saturday: two from Louisville and one from Hillsdale. The Falcons lost 41-17 to Hillsdale followed by 32-22 and 22-5 against Louisville. The First Side lost 32-22 in what was a barn burner seeing the lead change five times. The game looked to be heading to a 22-22 tie, a BGSU intercepted pass and a fumbled ball gave the Cardinal two quick scores in the last three minutes of the game to seal out a loss for the Falcons. For the Development 2 side, it was their second match playing together. There were some good phases of play from them, however a more experienced Hillsdale side was able to pull away with a 41-17 victory to start the weekend.
"For Louisville we played a good game, but we let those little mental and physical errors stop us from winning. You know we had them beat, but we let them stick around by giving them easy tries, easy points on lapses of judgement," said Center Owen Slimmer. "You know, I'm not worried, I don't think Tony's worried, I don't think as a team we should be worried. We just need to get in the lab and get those errors out, forget them, correct what we did wrong and move on to the next game."
