Ten seconds into the match it looked like the #1 ranked Louisville Cardinals were going to show #4 ranked and arch rivals Bowling Green that their nine point win over the Bowling Green Falcons a fortnight before was no fluke - nor were the victories over the other ranked teams this this season. With Bowling Green on the attack, Cardinal fullback Jack Eberle darted through the BG line and picked off a pass to then race 70 yards untouched for a try and with the conversion and less than a minute gone Louisville was on top 7-0.
BG fly half
Lucas Hickernell put BG on the board with a penalty kick, but Louisville tacked another converted try off a sideline dash by center Rocco Balistreri despite playing under a yellow card. BG again drew close on the first of three tries by 2025's D1AA Player of The Year Phil Tracey. Hickernell's conversion left UL leading at the half 14-10.
BG roared out to a 24-14 lead at the start of the second half with two converted tries. Hooker
Gino Carlo dove over the line from short yardage and BG fullback Jake Capel chipped the ball over to the 5 meter line to meet up with wing
Kacey Hathaway hurtling down the sideline who gathered it and dove into the corner.
Then in the second momentum shift of the match, Louisville flankers Gus Dwyer and Matt Krammer teamed up to score a try apiece and tie the match up at 24 all.
But then momentum shifted again as BG reeled off nineteen unanswered points . Phil Tracey scored his second and third tries and flanker Colt Crabiel added a try along with two Hickernell conversions to seal the win at 43-24.
