Women's Hockey Hosts Fundraiser in Support of Hockey Helping Heroes Charity

Recently, the Bowling Green State University Women's Club Hockey team hosted a fundraising event that consisted of a game played against the local FOP 109 police group. Members of the local youth Hockey group were included in the event which made it a day full of fun, celebrations, and most importantly, Hockey.

The fundraiser's proceeds were split between the Hockey Helping Heroes charity as well as the Women's Club Hockey team. It was an amazing opportunity for the team to work hand-in-hand and give back to the community and local first responders. The FOP 109 group became role models to the youth program attendees and showcased how to play good hockey for a great cause.

The Bowling Green Youth Hockey program continues to increase in size, and the Women's Club Hockey team wanted to highlight their accomplishments. Ellen Smith, a current BGYHA board member, was a significant piece in organizing the event.

The Women's Club Hockey team embraced the Youth Team with open arms and invited them to have the opportunity for on-ice recognition to promote women in sports. They also wanted to celebrate the advances the program has had recently and to wholeheartedly support their future endeavors.

Along with the on-ice recognition, a color guard ceremony occurred in support of the FOP 109 group.

The team doesn't want their good fortune and high energy to stop there. They plan to keep improving and growing as the start of the season approaches. The recent hiring of head coach Steven Dibble offers newfound hope for the team. Dibble has big goals for the team and a lot of drive to help them accomplish those goals.

The team continues to grow its sense of community through events like this, community outreach, and team bonding.

The day ended with spirits high as the team prepares for their upcoming season.
