Welcoming Back New Coach, Troy Alt, to Club Water Polo

Water Polo Coach Troy Alt

Club Water Polo is welcoming BGSU alumni Troy Alt to the team as the new head coach. Eager to begin coaching the team, Troy is looking forward to returning to his alma mater to coach great players who share his love for water polo competition.

Troy attended BGSU from 2002-2006 with the intention of swimming for the men's swim team. When the program was dropped, he found water polo and instantly fell in love with the sport. Troy served as an advisor and captain while on the team.  After graduation, Troy got to coach for the BGSU club team for several years, up until 2012, and is excited to rejoin the program.

In addition to previously coaching at BGSU, Troy also coached water polo at Glass City Surge Water Polo Club and St. Francis de Sales High School where his team obtained 3rd place in state rankings and went undefeated in the north region.  Troy particularly focuses on goalies, hole sets, and hole defense when teaching his players the game and watching them progress.

Troy wanted to be a coach primarily to provide his team with knowledge from personal experience in order to help them become better players, athletes, students, and people.  "The team will support the individuals that comprise it.  The team will put forth the effort needed to achieve positive results.  These results are not restricted to wins, but also encompass academics, community, and growth.  The team, and the individuals representing it, will be models of a successful program.  The team will hold themselves and their teammates accountable for these values."  Says Troy on his coaching and team core values.

Since his college days, Troy has always had a soft spot for this program. When the university approached him about the position, he realized the investment Club Sports was making in the team was his chance to turn the program into a stable dominant presence in Ohio (and beyond).  Troy looks forward to developing players to achieve success in the game, in their academics, and in their personal lives by encouraging friends, classmates, family, and administrators to support the team.
