Austin Morris was named an Assistant Coach of the Bowling Green Falcons Rugby team prior to the fall of 2024, entering his fourth season as an Assistant Coach at the collegiate level. Morris came to Bowling Green after spending the previous three seasons as the Assistant Coach at Florida State University Rugby. 

 

Austin believes in emphasizing small individual skills with players to help develop them to where they want to be. He has extensive experience working individually with halfbacks and kicks. As a coach, Austin believes in the core values of respect, dependability, and unity. 

 

Under his guidance at Florida State University, the Seminoles finished as Florida Collegiate Conference Champions in 2022 and 2023. In 2023, they finished runners-up at the 2023 CRAA D1AA Nationals. Throughout his coaching career with the Seminoles Morris was able to aid 6 players to All-Conference First team, 9 to the All-Conference Second team, and 12 to the All-Freshman team.

 

Austin began his playing career at the high school level during the 2012-2013 season, playing for Summer County RFC in Henderson, Tennessee. Throughout his high school career, Morris was selected for the TN Tri-Stars select state team in 2013. Morris then attended Lee University to earn his BA and gained experience working in college admissions for Lee, and eventually Florida State. While at Lee he continued to play for the Lee University RFC from 2013-2017. While at Lee, Morris would be a 2 year captain and lead the team to their furthest point in the 2015 regionals. 

 

After playing at the collegiate level, Morris would continue his playing career for the Chattanooga Men’s Rugby, a D2 Men’s team from 2017-2020. Morris would then play for Tallahassee Rugby from 2021-2024 and become the career highest point scorer for the club.
